Marsala- The Offical Color of the Year

I always look forward to the beginning of a new year. New dreams, new hopes, and new fashion. These are not the only reasons though. When I wake up on January 1st of every year, the first thing I like to do is google the New and Improved Color of the Year. It always makes me so excited for the potential new items I can start stocking up on. And this year, was no exception. So, when January 1st came around this year, I jumped on my phone to see what would be my new inspiration for this year's wardrobe. Surprised by their choice, but excited about the promising shade, I read article after article and looked at picture after picture at the new color. Dying to know what color got me so excited? Take a look yourself...

"Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness." says Pantone's executive director Leatrice Eiseman as she describes the new color of the year. I couldn't have said it better myself, Ms. Leatrice Eiseman. One of the reasons I fell in love with this color when I saw it is because of it's warmth and earthiness. Some of the past colors that have been selected have been bold and bright, kind of like they are screaming at you for attention, but marsala is quite the opposite. It makes you want to dye your fuzziest blanket, find a quiet place to sit, and dive right into a good book. Am I right, ladies?
If you're wondering what designers have done with this shade, don't worry I've already put together a quick list of pictures. So, ladies, put your inspired caps on and start thinking of some ways you can put Marsala into your everyday wardrobe.
Also, check this set out on my polyvore to see where everything is from!! Thanks for reading! Link to polyvore is on side bar--->

Not too Shabby Chic

Fifty degrees, little to no wind, and the sun shining bright... Days like these don't happen often in January, but when they do, we take advantage of them here in the Upson household. I myself always like to celebrate by taking the day to myself.
Today, I decided was a perfect day to spend a little time on some retail therapy and lunch with my favorite lunchmate, my Grandma, or Gram for short.
To look fashionable, and still remain comfortable (which is almost always my goal),  I paired a cotton black and white shirt and black cardigan from Loft with some black wedges from Lucky Brand. For jeans, I wore my favorite pair of ripped skinnies from American Eagle. To accessorize,  I used a knotted chain necklace, also from Loft, my Kate Spade Watch, and pearl earrings. For my a secret weapon, I carried my black Kate Spade tote. Perfect for the little pickups. As for my hair and makeup, I chose a boosted pony tail with selected pieces hanging out and applied some of my Younique Mascara and lip gloss. (Simple yet effective, might I add.) This look was the perfect outfit for a pretty good day all around!

And to wrap this post up, I thought I would share a quote with you guys. I saw it on Pinterest, loved it, and felt the need to share. May it inspire you to do great things this week.

Stay Classy, my lovelies :) XO Kate

Review on Younique Products

This year for Christmas was such a success for me! In fact, as a gift my aunt brought me some Younique makeup products that I've been itching to try from her online boutique. Included in the package was a Younique makeup bag, Mineral Touch Pressed Powder, their Lucrative Lip Gloss, Mineral eyeshadows, Pencil Eyeliner, and their famous Younique Fiber Mascara set. It was love at first sight for me.

What a great haul, right? I'm going to review each product separately, but to show you all what everything looks like on, I have created a video called My Review on Younique Products showing me using all of the products. It is on my Youtube page, but I am also going to put it at the bottom of this post.

So the first item I want to review is their Pressed Powder.
First off I want to gush on the look of the Younique products. I love how classic and simple the design is. It isn't cheesy or in your face like many other products. Instead it is simple and clean. Which is what catches my eye. As for the actual makeup, it is also just as good as the packaging. What I love about it is how nice and even it goes on. You don't have to worry about clumps because it applies evenly. Also, it covers just as well as a foundation! In fact, when I am wearing this product, it is usually the only thing I will use. Just because regular foundation isn't needed.
Would I recommend this product to a friend?- Yes, of course! Especially for someone who likes the natural look.
What rating would you give this product?- I would give this product a 3 out of 5. It has a beautiful, clean finish that leaves my skin feeling great. Plus, it doesn't cake up by the end of the day like some pressed powders. The only reason it lost stars with me is because of the price; compared to MAC's Pressed Powder ($26) or Clinique's Sheer Pressed Powder ($24), Younique comes in at $32, a little bit more than most. Though, I think that the quality and the coverage of this product makes up for the few extra dollars spent.
This is their Lucrative Lip Gloss line.  Under my tree I received the Luxe shade, which is a nude shade (also, it is the second to last on the right side of this picture). I love this lip gloss so much because of it's smoothness. Usually before I put lip gloss on, I apply chap stick to make my lips softer, but with this lip gloss, I no longer need that step! Lastly, it comes in ten different shades to suit all of my makeup needs. Personally, I can't wait to collect each and everyone of them.
Would I recommend this product to a friend?- For sure! It is a beautiful line of glosses that leave my lips feeling extra soft and pretty. I wish everyone could have this feeling!
What rating would you give this product?- I'm giving this product a well deserved 4 out of 5 because of   the feel of the gloss and because of shades that you can purchase them in.  Compared to MAC "lip glass" ($15) and Bare Minerals Moxie Lipgloss ($18), Younique Lucrative Lipgloss comes in at a competitive price of $15.  And to me, I would chose the Lucrative Line over both the BareMinerals and MAC lip line anyday.

Next, is their Pigment Powder Eyeshadow. Personally, I usually don't where a lot of eyeshadows except for every once and a while. After testing them out though, I really liked them. Something about other eyeshadows that I despise is how vibrant and "in your face" they are. Or, how when someone else wears eyeshadow, and you're just like, "Ouch." because they've put so much on. I always think, " if you wanted attention, you sure got it." Well, with these eyeshadows, you don't really have either of these problems to worry about. The first time I tried it I put a modest amount of powder on, which for me is not a lot, and you could barely notice it! I personally like this feature. You'd literally have to pack it on to get to the "hooker" level. (Thank you Younique makers for erasing this concern. I am forever in your debt.)
Would I recommend this to a friend?- Yes, and to some of my color-blinded friends, I have multiple times.
What rating would you give this product?- I am rating it 5 out of 5. Yes, I love this product probably the most out of my haul( besides the mascara). It allows me to do my eye makeup lightly without drawing unwanted attention. Compared to MAC eyeshadows($25) and BareMinerals ($15), Younique eyeshadows are a really good price, coming in at only $12.50 for each! It's a bargin! Yet another reason for me to love this product!
Eye Liner, a girl's bestfriend.. or one of her multiples right? I'm very picky about my eye liner. About the color, about how easy it is to apply, and whether it is pencil or liquid. That being said, usually I stick with liquid eyeliners because I like how it goes on. It's harder to apply, but once you master it, it is worth the 50x that you attempted it before actually getting it. I usually don't like pencil liner because to me, it is harder to put on, and you have to put multiple coats on to get a full, clear line. Plus, you have to sharpen them, and that's just a pain. So when I first tried this, I wasn't expecting to like it, but I did! I really, honestly did, and it shocked me. With this bad boy, I didn't have to do line over line to get it perfect. It was easy on, and when it came time to remove it before bed, it was easy off! It was such a shocker that I haven't worn anything else since!
Would I recommend this to a friend- Over and over again. I love it! It is the best pencil eyeliner I've ever owned.
What rating would you give this item?- I'm giving it a grand total of 5 out of 5 just because of how much it impressed me! Thank you Younique for this! I truly love you! Compared to MAC pencil eyeliner ($16) and Bare Minerals pencil eyeliner ($16), Younique pencil eyeliner is only $15, saving you a dollar... which is valuable for vending machines at school, might I add.

*At this time they do not have liquid eyeliner (Trust me, I checked), but maybe if enough people asked for it, they might come out with one!

Lastly, is their infamous Fiber Mascara. Included in this is a gel brush and fiber brush. Those of you who are not familiar with their mascara, what you do is put on your regular mascara, then, concentrating on one eye at a time, apply the gel (the longer tube) on both top and bottom lashes. After doing this, you take the fibers (the shorter tube) and apply from mid lash to tips of lashes, also on top and bottom. Finish off with the gel tube one last time, and then repeat on the next eye! It may seem like a process, and it is, but it's worth it, trust me. Here is a before and after on me.
The lighting was a little weird in the second photo, but you get the jest of it. It's magic! Especially for people like me who have short, stubby lashes.. yes I'm talking to you, girly. It's a perfect way to get long lashes that are yours and aren't fake and messy!
Would I recommend the product to a friend?- Oh yes, and I have. My mom wears it, my sister wears it, and I'm currently trying to convince my friend to purchase it now. It is a must for my makeup routine.
What rating would you give this product?- 4 out of 5. Why? Because it is a miracle worker on my small, thick eyelashes! The only reason it doesn't have five stars is because of the time it takes to put it on. It does take a little longer than just regular mascara, but I find time in my beauty routine to do it. Compared to MAC mascara ($17) and BareMinerals ($18), Younique mascara set is hefty, coming in at $29, but you aren't just getting a mascara. You are getting fibers that will increase the length of your lashes too, and to me, this is worth the splurge.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Younique products. As an overall company, I would give it a 4 out 5, and I would certainly recommend their products to anyone.

I hope you guys enjoyed these reviews! Also, if you want to purchase these items, click this link

How to Make the Most Out of Your Wardrobe

We all get bored with our wardrobes ever once and a while.... some more than others (ME), and it's going to happen. It's part of being a fashion diva, or just being a girl in general! So, I've decided to share with you all some of the 'battle strategies' that I use when I am having a creative block.

  1. Anything goes when it comes to fashion- Don't be afraid to mix and match prints. In today's fashion world, there really isn't a lot of rules that you need to follow! And for this, we are lucky! In the 19th and 20th century, women had certain ways they were expected to dress, but not anymore! Times have changed ladies; there are no longer any strict guidelines that limit our creativity! Don't worry about breaking the rules because they have already been broken over and over again. Put some leopard print together with some funky neon shoes, or maybe where a tribal printed shirt with an equally as bright scarf. The sky is the limited as long as it is tasteful and still you.
  2. The Long- Lost items-  You know that cute necklace that you have hanging by your dresser, or that scarf that you have in the back of you closet that you never seem to think about wearing? Well, I want you pull those little items out of the back of your closet, and set them down on your bed. Think about them. Think about why you bought them, and what emotion you expressed when picking this item. Were you feeling love at first sight? Or maybe excitement? Joy? Or maybe you were just in the mood for something a little bit different than usual. Whatever emotion that comes to mind, think about something else in your closet that you love that also made you feel this emotion. This is something I use a lot. It may sound silly, but I'm not kidding you. Whenever I am having trouble matching a never worn item to something in my closet, I use this strategy. What I love about this is that no matter how hard of an item it is to match, I can always match it by emotion. It almost always works.
  3. Accessorize- Man do I love my accessories. Vera Wang once said something along the lines of " When wondering how to shop for things to spice up your wardrobe, buy accessories. They can change your look completely." It wasn't exactly this, but I remember thinking, "This is so true!" Because I could where a cute pink satin shirt with bangles and a pearl necklace one day, and then turn around the next day and where the same exact shirt, but with hoop earrings and a statement necklace, and people would never know the difference. Accessories are extremely valuable when it comes to 'spicing' up your favorite outfits. Don't worry if you wore the same shirt last week, worry about what accessories you wore with that shirt, and then change it up! Plus, it's not like people catalog your outfits everyday! They have more important things to worry about. Trust me.  Also with accessories, you can do about anything with them! You can layer, wear a necklace as a multi-banded bracelet, or wear gold and silver pieces together, etc.! The sky is not even the limit with accessories! So have fun with them! They are just begging to be put on!
  4. Pinterest-  What a lovely little site. EVERYTHING you love is in one place under categories that make them easy to find! Plus, you can create "boards" to organize these items! So why not take advantage of it?? You can basically type anything and everything into that little search bar at the top, and it will come up with millions of pins to choose from! All you have to do is pick your favorite! One of my favorite things to do when I need fresh ideas, is do exactly this with the latest trends.. Hint: maybe search " Teen Fashion" then add a certain color or print that shows up a lot in your wardrobe. That way you can maybe get a fresh look at how someone else interpreted the piece. (To see my personal Pinterest, click on this link.)

Blog Design

Hello, and welcome back to World Class Fashion. If this is your first time, then please feel free to look around as much as you'd like. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them at the bottom of the page. XO Kate

Bonjour, mes amies de fashion! It's Sunday which means everyone is either watching football, or getting ready for the school week by getting organized. Since I spend a little too much time on football, and no time on actually getting anything done, I decided I would start my long list of tasks here, with you guys!
For a couple of days now,  I've been toying with the idea of changing my blog design. It hasn't really stuck yet because of the fact I'm still a new blogger, and I don't want to confuse readers by changing my design only two weeks into having World Class Fashion. The only reason this idea is still nagging  at me is because I kinda feel like the design is a little dark and unwelcoming. What I would hope to accomplish by changing my design so soon, is a brighter and more relaxing atmosphere that you can sit down with and enjoy.
But to be able to do this, I knew I needed to consult with you guys on the big decision. I mean what kind of blogger would I be if I made decisions purely based on my thoughts, and my thoughts along? Right? So, to make this process easier for both of us, I have created a poll to your right, on the side bar. It basically gives you the choice of either, "Love the design", " I like it", " It's ok.", and "Change it completely".
I think that basically covers most probable opinions, but if you have something more to say, please, by all means, comment below and tell me more. All comments are welcome and needed!!

Thanks for reading guys, and I hope that you will give me your honest opinion on the poll so that I can make this blog the best that it can be. Constructive criticism is what I live for! Don't forget to check out my past posts too if you haven't already read them! Happy Sunday, XO Kate.

P.S. To make your day a litte bit brighter, here is a picture of little Miss Sophie with an ornament on my her head.

My Top Five Closet Essentials

If picture isn't loading click this link-->  My Top Five 2k15 Closet Essentials

Greetings Friends! Welcome back! If this is your first time here with us, then head over to my All About Me page to learn more about me and my philosophy towards fashion for teens! XO Kate

So today I wanted to talk to you about what my personal Go-To Closet Items. A lot of my friends have asked me before, " How do you always look so put together? What is your secret?" And to this I tell them, " It's all about the essentials." Everyone always has a secret to their outfits, and I'm going to share with you My Top Five Closet Essentials.

1. My Trusty Skinny Jeans- My gosh, I would not be able to form a coherent outfit... or sentence, without my skinnies. I literally love them so much. They are an absolute must to my everyday outfit. I think I may own one or two pairs of boot cut, but skinnies are the ruler of my bottom drawer. I personally like the dark wash skinnies at American Eagle . Especially when there is a big sale right before school on all of their jeans. I go crazy. My second favorite place to buy skinnies is at Loft. The ones that I live in are their Modern Skinny jeans. They are the boom. Plus, after a few washes, they are so soft and comfy. Perfect for when you wanna look nice, but still wanna be toasty warm in your favorite sweatpants. The only reason I prefer American Eagle over Loft jeans is because of the price. Loft is a little hefty when you're on a tight budget, and AE jeans fit the bill perfectly. But, on a good sale day, you can get Loft jeans for a reasonable price.

2. My Pearly- White Pearls- These are always a good bet. Pearls are both versatile and chic, so they go with about every outfit imaginable. Whatever the occasion, pearls always come through for me. My pearls were a gift to me from a mom, but my fake bigger pearls are from Loft. I love them just the same.
Plus, when I need more of an eye catcher, I go for my Loft pair . When I need something a little understated, I use my real pearls that way it balances my outfit.

3. A Watch- Why is this an essential on my list you may ask? Well, watches are a great accessory for a girl on the move. Especially when you are in high school. We all know that the clocks in school are never trustworthy. So, my philosophy, buy a watch and keep track of the time yourself. Plus, I always love the little designs that they put in the watch itself. They are so unique and colorful that it can spice up can any one of your outfits. I have a couple of different watches that I am in love with. My certain favorite of the month, was a gift that I got for Christmas. It is a simple tan leather watch with gold accents from Kate Spade. It is gorgeous. It is both youthful and classic... which we all know is my favorite combination.

My next favorite watch, is a Garmin watch. If you have ever seen these watches, then you know that they are used for monitoring fitness and health. That is not the only great thing about these watches though. They are also quite cute! They come in a lot of different colors and designs to fit your personality. I personally have a black and pink one that I where for Track, but also if I'm wearing a more casual outfit. I have had many compliments on this bad boy.

4.  Cute Graphic Tees-  Whenever I want to wear a cute cardigan/ sweater, I always turn to my graphic tees from Loft to help me complete my look. They are so soft and flexible that I even sleep in them! Plus, Loft has an amazing selection of graphic tees that are adorable and wearable for all ages. My favorite, you saw me wearing last night in my Messy and Cute Hairstyle video (If you want to check out this video, visit my Monday Mayhems post). Here are few, quick examples of some of the selection they have a Loft.

5. Flats- I love myself some cute, comfortable flats. I probably own about six pairs of different colored flats!! My favorite place to purchase flats is on Modcloth.com. I know a lot of people are nervous to buy shoes online, but Modcloth thought ahead! On the description, they make it easy for you to decide what size you will need by telling you if you need to size up or size down based on fit. It is a life savor. Here are some examples of cute flats from Modcloth that I am in absolute love with.

January 5th's Outfit Overview

Hello my lovelies, and congratulations! You have just made it through yet another Monday. Yes! This is huge! I hope it wasn't too terrible, and that you managed to have a decent day. Sadly for me, my alarm did not go off on time, but that is ok! Because thankfully, I had referred to my attack list,  (if you haven't seen that yet, then check out my last post, Monday Mayhems) and had planned my outfit the night before. Just to make my life a little bit easier.

Anyways, with no further ado, I give to you, my Monday outfit overview:

Sweater-  Black knit: H&M.com
Leggings- Black: Loft.com/louandgrey
Scarf- Red, Black, and tan- T.J Maxx
Watch- Tan leather- Kate Spade.com
Purse- Black leather tote: Kate Spade.com
Shoes- Black suede wedges: The Lucky Brand.com

I'll be honest with you. This look was designed purely around the fact that I wanted to be cozy, but still look cute and chic at the same time. To achieve this look, I paired some black leggings ( to find out more about how to wear legging and still remain classy, check out my Monday Mayhems post!) with a oversized black sweater as my main pieces. Then, to break it up a bit, I added a checkered red, black and tan scarf.  And to finish the look, I put in some simple white pearls and added a tan leather watch.

An outfit like this is great for Monday's because it is cozy and warm, but also allows you to remain a sophisticated and classy girl at the same time.I hope this helped!!!

Need advice on a outfit for a special occasion or just want me to help you figure out what to pair with what? Comment below or email me on my personal email which is listed below. Don't be afraid to reach out! This blog is for you guys. Take advantage because this is why I'm here. Monday Mayhems

Hello my lovelies! The dreaded Mondays are back. The ones that don't involve sleeping in and waking up when you feel like it. No, these Mondays are awful. You're alarm is set, your clothes are set out, and your lunch is made. Plus, what could be worse than starting the second semester on a MONDAY! What were they thinking, right?
But do not fear! There are ways to make this Monday more bearable, and I'm here to share with you these Monday hacks.
  1.  First, numero uno on the my attack list, pick out your outfit the night before. Why? Because I've had way too many Monday mornings where EVERYTHING goes wrong. My alarm doesn't go off on time, or I slept through it, my hair isn't corroperating, and on top of it all, there is nothing for breakfast!! No one is ammune to these! So, my thought pattern was, why not just get your frantic 'I have nothing to wear' spill out of the way the night before? Yes! It is a big Monday morning saver! It is one less thing to worry about when everything else goes down the gutter. ( to see what I wore today, check out my January 5th outfit overview!)
  2. Number two, perfect hair is NOT important today. Have you ever had those morning where your hair isn't doing ANYTHING? Of course you have! So, to help you deal with this, I have put together some simple updoes to share that are fun and cute, plus, if it's a little messy, it only completes the look.
  3. Number three, leggings are a good invention. Yes, I approve! Thank you Legging Goddess for giving us the blessed gift of these soft, flexible, pants. They are a god-sent. BUT before you get too excited I do have one rule for you, my lovelies. To wear leggings, you have to be able to cover your front and your butt. No, I do not, along with everyone else, want to see your crotch. Plus, it creates bad attention. You don't want to be known for your crotch, and if you do... well then you have other problems to worry about. So, I have put together some of my favorite options to wear with leggings just to give you guys some inspiration.

Thanks for reading this post! I appreciate it tremendously! Don't forget, if you have any questions at all, comment below! Also, if you like me enough, and you feel like sharing my blog, hit me up on Pinterest at World-Class and on instagram @world_class_fashion. Thank you all for your support! I love you guys! XO Kate

The Mother of Class

Hello my lovelies! This is my first blog post ( YAY, exciting!😊), and I want to make it special. "How?", I asked myself. After pondering it for a while,  I finally decided that I would write about my role model and one of histories most well known and esteemed actresses of all time, Miss Audrey Hepburn, ladies.
The most beautiful and inspiring woman I've ever written about. Now, what depresses me beyond belief is the fact that many girls these days do not know who she is! It still shocks me, seeing as she was a leader in fashion, an amazing actress, and a humanitarian above all else! Seen in movies such as Paris When it Sizzles, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sabrina, and Funny Face, Audrey made her debut in 1948 as an extraordinary actress in Dutch and Seven Lessons. This wasn't the only place where she shined though. Audrey was a fashion figure to all life forms. She was known for her classic "All Black" outfit which consisted of a black shirt, black pants, and yes, you guessed it, black shoes.
Now, besides the fashion side of her, (yeah, I know... Don't kill me) I want to talk about her as a person. Why? Because I want you all to know WHY I love this woman so much. Not only does she have impeccable taste, but she was also an amazing person. She dedicated her life to helping others. After a successful movie career, Audrey moved on to bigger and better things, which meant to her, becoming the Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. Yes, ladies, she did it all.
And, as my first lesson to you all, choose a role model by their morals, and not just by their style. Beauty begins on the inside, not JUST by how you dress. Though how you dress helps, am I right?😉.
XO Kate
